“Evidence, Standards of Proof, and Public Policy: Essays in Legal Epistemology”

My dissertation addresses the epistemic, legal, and policy foundations of legal fact-finding institutions and the characteristic types of reasoning that inform them, with an eye towards solving practical and doctrinal problems. I also investigate interactions between evidence law and other legal fields, in particular how rules and doctrines of one field can affect policy goals associated with other fields. I investigate these issues through different methodological lenses, including legal theory, epistemology, normative ethics, economics, and behavioral psychology.
