Writing for J.D. and LL.M. Students
At HLS, students have excellent opportunities for writing in many different areas of the law, in a variety of different formats, and under the supervision of, or in collaboration with, many HLS faculty members. Faculty encourage and actively support student writing, working closely with students on papers written for academic credit, journal articles, and books.
Additional Writing Opportunities
Students have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members, publish papers through the online student paper series sponsored by the HLS library, and work on student-run law journals.
Each year the Law School awards several prizes for the best papers written by Harvard Law School students in particular areas of the law. Graduating prize winners are noted in the Commencement Program and prize-winning papers are eligible to be published in the School’s public paper series.
