Last week, Harvard Law School welcomed a new class of J.D., LL.M. and S.J.D. students to campus. Orientation for new students included a welcome by HLS Dean John F. Manning ’85, section photos, a visit from U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan ’86, and a lawn party on Holmes Field.

On Thursday, May 25, the Harvard Law School Class of 2018 received their diplomas at a ceremony on Holmes Field, and celebrated their graduation with family, friends, and picture-perfect New England weather.

On April 20, HLS in the Community wrapped up a year-long celebration of Harvard Law School's bicentennial by highlighting the contributions made by HLS clinics and students practice organizations (SPOs).

Now in its second year, the Harvard Law School Public Interest Scavenger Hunt continued its focus on HLS history and trivia, but also highlighted alumni who have done important public interest work.

HLS in the World, held Oct. 26-27, featured an extraordinary gathering of leaders: Lawyers, legislators, governors, judges, public interest leaders, entrepreneurs, financiers, journalists, and others from the United States and abroad, who joined together to share ideas, debate and deliberate in dozens of panel discussions and open fora.

The Harvard Law School community gathered on Sept. 15 and 16 for a bicentennial festival celebrating HLS in the Arts featuring talks, art, films and performances by HLS faculty, students, staff and alumni.

The Class of 2017 selected Professor Mark Wu for the prestigious Albert M. Sacks-Paul A. Freund Award for Teaching Excellence for his work as a dedicated professor and mentor who cares not only about the intellectual development of his students, but also their emotional well-being.
