Members of Harvard Law School’s S.J.D. community gathered on campus for the 2018 S.J.D. Association Workshop, “Between Law and Justice: Ethics, Politics, and the State,” on May 17. The Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) is Harvard Law School’s most advanced law degree, designed principally for aspiring legal academics who wish to pursue sustained independent study, research, and writing.
Professor Intisar Rabb, HLS alums awarded Trailblazer Awards by Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association

In March, Harvard Law School Professor Intisar Rabb, director of the Islamic Legal Studies Program at HLS, was awarded the Trailblazer Award by the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association (MBLA), an award that recognizes “leaders who have enriched the legal profession and created career pathways for black lawyers."

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has awarded $425,000 over two years for the development of SHARIAsource—an online Islamic law resource founded and directed by Harvard Law School Professor Intisar Rabb.
Kristen Stilt on the intersection of animals, law, and religion

During a recent conversation, Professor Kristen Stilt, co-director of the Islamic Legal Studies Program at Harvard Law School, spoke about the connection between animal law and Islamic law, and the impact of animal law on both animals and people.
The Henry Luce Foundation recently awarded $400,000 over two years for the development of SHARIAsource, a project designed to be an online portal of resources and analysis on Islamic law and directed by Harvard Law School Professor Intisar A. Rabb.
Meet this year’s new HLS faculty

Five Harvard Law School professors presented a sampling of their innovative ideas in late May at the 2014 Harvard Law School Thinks Big lecture, an annual event that challenges faculty to explain those big ideas in short talks.
