Securing Pages

Editors have the option to secure their page(s) so that only the selected audiences can access the page via Harvard Key login. When this function is applied, at minimum one secure group must be selected, but you can have as few or as many groups as you wish selected. If an individual has membership in multiple groups, they will have access to your page if at least one group that they are in is selected. 

How to add group security to your page or post

Access the admin section of the HLS website and navigate to the editor screen for the page you wish to secure.

In the right-hand sidebar menu, scroll down to “Security: Groups” and toggle on “Secure.”

Select at least one or more of the Security Groups you would like to apply  to your page.

Once you are satisfied with your selection, be sure to click “Save” in the upper right-hand corner of your screen to activate the security groups.

Note: It is unlikely you will need to use the “Restrict to Secure Editors” toggle. This is mainly for faculty manuals and other high-security documents.  If you are not a part of the Secure Editors group and toggle this on, you will need to contact Communications to edit your page and return it to a security level you will be able to access.
