On this page you can read about the cost of attendance and ways to meet it, whether by applying for need-based HLS Grant, securing a loan from our Preferred Lender List, or considering outside scholarship options. Admitted students are always free to contact SFS to discuss the application process and to go over each of these options. We also have video reference materials on financing and a robust personal finance program with our partner institute, AccessLex, for help with all your budgeting needs.

Cost of Attendance
The cost of attendance represents average costs for most students, and establishes an annual limit on financial aid (grants and loans from all sources) available to each student.
-
Meeting Need
The financial aid program at Harvard Law School is entirely need-based. A student’s need is determined by subtracting the calculated student and family resources from the cost of attendance.

Financial Aid Packages
Need-based grant aid is available based on demonstrated financial need. Here are two hypothetical aid package examples.

Applying for Student Loans
You can finance the entire cost of your education through loans, if needed. Student Financial Services provides information and resources to help you through the process of securing loans.
