On February 17, the Harvard Law School LL.M. Class of 2024 came together to share international food and drink, cultural displays, and music and dance performances from around the world. This year’s entertainment included mariachi music from Mexico, a display of the evolution of Ghanian dance, a Nigerian ballad, a song played at the end of the evening in Indonesian nightclubs, an India-Pakistan duo performing a Bollywood dance, a song made popular by Rubén Blades LL.M. ’85, and lively audience participation dances from Bollywood and Latin America.
One hundred eighty students, representing 61 countries/jurisdictions from Argentina to Zimbabwe, are pursuing a Master of Laws degree during this academic year. They include lawyers in private practice, government officials and policy experts, law teachers, tech and legal startup founders, judges, prosecutors, activists and NGO founders, doctoral students, Fulbright scholars, U.S. Navy and Coast Guard JAG officers, and Supreme or Constitutional Court clerks for courts in eight countries. (In addition to the LL.M. students, HLS has 48 S.J.D. candidates from 26 countries and jurisdictions.)
