For Dean Robert Clark ’72 it was just another day at the office when students in the Drama Society’s spring parody, License to Bill, called on him to simultaneously deliver punch lines and save the School from destruction. In the play, Clark (flanked by Nancy Trainer ’01 and Aaron Rosenberg ’02) comes to the rescue when the evil Dr. Stanford schemes to lower HLS’s standing in U.S. News’s annual rankings. When Clark promises to demolish Gropius and reduce the size of first-year sections, the School’s ranking begins to rise and Dr. Stanford skulks back to Palo Alto. Directed by Victoria Jueds ’01 and coproduced by Taryn Fielder ’02 and Mike Ginsberg ’02, License to Bill included cameos by Professors Elena Kagan ’86, Elizabeth Warren, and Jon Hanson, and Caroline Soultanian of the registrar’s office.
