From the entire Bernard Koteen Office of Public Interest Advising (OPIA) team, we are excited to welcome you to Harvard Law School and into our vibrant public interest community!

OPIA encourages students to incorporate an ongoing commitment to public service throughout their careers. We advise and support you as you reflect upon the type of work that fits your unique values, interests, and personalities, and help you identify and pursue opportunities to engage in that type of work. We strive to provide a warm, friendly, and inclusive environment for all students and alumni.

During your first year at HLS, there are many ways to get involved with the public interest community, including joining the Public Service Leaders (PSL) Program. As a PSL, you will have the opportunity to connect with other public interest-oriented students, participate in unique programming, and receive mentorship from like-minded alumni and upper-class students. As a program graduate, you will become a vital part of fostering and supporting the public interest community at HLS for future generations of law students.

The Public Service Leaders Program is intended to provide support and community for all students with a strong desire to use the law in service of social justice goals. We encourage all interested students to join.

To sign up, please complete the Public Service Leaders registration form by September 19.  Also mark your calendars for a PSL kickoff event on September 24 at 6:30pm in WCC 1010, where you can meet public interest classmates across sections and learn more about the program. Afterwards, we will head to the HLS pub for drinks, snacks, and more community building.
