OPIA invites current JD students at all class levels to participate in the Alumni Mentor Matching Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. The program connects students with experienced public interest attorneys who can share guidance, insights, and support as students navigate law school and explore public interest careers.

New for AY 26-27

This year, JD students across all class years will have the opportunity to sign up and be matched with an alumni mentor. In addition, registration will remain open throughout the academic year so students can sign up and be matched with a mentor at any point they think such a connection would be helpful.

What to Expect

  • Request a mentor: Fill out the registration form, letting us know your interests and career goals
  • Connect with your mentor: Once OPIA matches you with a mentor, you will receive an email sharing their name, email, and some background information. The onus is on YOU, the mentee, to reach out to schedule the initial conversation in a timely manner.
  • Build a meaningful relationship: After the initial conversation, every mentor/mentee relationship is different. Mentors have committed to 2-3 touchpoints over the course of the academic year, but you and your mentor can shape the relationship as works best for you.

Interested?

Complete the registration form. Starting in October, OPIA will review and identify matches based on student interests, goals, and alumni mentor availability.
