The Semester in Washington Clinic is an extraordinary opportunity to work at the intersection of government, policy, and practice while pursuing your particular academic and career interests and goals. Clinic participants spend the Spring Term (or both the Winter and Spring Terms, if preferred) living in Washington and working as legal interns in either federal government offices in the Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branches or not-for-profit policymaking organization. The placements, primarily in offices where lawyers provide legal advice and assistance on policy, legislative, or regulatory matters, are developed collaboratively between the students and the Clinic Director to match to the students’ interests.

The Semester in Washington Program also has a course component that complements the placements.  The course focuses on what it means to do great policy making, developing the skills to make it happen, and leadership. If you have any questions or want to discuss how the clinic might help further your goals, you can email the Clinic Director, Jonathan Wroblewski, at jwroblewski@law.harvard.edu. He would love to hear from you!

Please note that the Spring 2026 White House Internship Program application window is now open and will close on Friday, August 8, 2025. More information about this program and the application process can be found here
