Episode 9: Jeff McNaught
Jeff McNaught
Senior Director Campus Safety – Facilities Office
In this second episode we learn that Jeff attended 3 years at New England Law Boston while working part time at HLS. He practiced law and worked for a period of time in litigation but realized it was not the work he wanted to keep doing.
He reached out to a good friend at Harvard University, Jason Luke, and was persuaded to take on a position in the Campus Services department, managing a team of custodians on the Harvard Law School campus. Working in the new WCC building was going to require a lot of moving parts for the number of events happening daily. That job seemed familiar, as he had already worked with the custodial group during his time in the Events Office. We talked about the importance of the custodial work at HLS and the changes Jeff promoted during the 2 years he worked with them.
While still working for the Campus Services department, Jeff was contacted by the HLS Dean of Students to apply for a position, recently opened, as the Director of Students Affairs. A new challenge in higher education where his skills in customer service would prove important again. His connections with the Events and Custodial groups would also be important for the number of events the new office would be promoting. Among the events, Commencement and Orientation were the biggest ones, and it was the team effort in DOS as well as all other departments that made all the difference for their success.
Jeff worked in the Dean of Students Office for 6 years, and then transferred to a new opportunity in the Facilities Office, where he works now as the Senior Director of Campus Safety.
