While your student account notices will be provided exclusively in electronic form, there will still be several payment options available to you. However, credit card payments are not accepted.

All payments are processed by the central University’s Student Financial Services Office and Students Accounts Office, located in the Smith Campus Center, 8th Floor.

E-Payment & In-Person Payment (Preferred Methods)

We strongly encourage students to pay by using e-payments as it is the fastest and most secure way to pay.  You can make e-payments by logging into your Student Account.  For e-payments you only need the information that is readily available on your paper check such as the ABA Routing Number and the Account Number. You can enter and store checking or savings account information from U.S. banks into your online accounts and transfer funds electronically to Harvard via a secure server, at no additional charge. If you set up multiple authorized users, each delegate will only be able to access their own bank information. They will not be able to obtain bank information about other authorized users. Each delegate will have his/her own HarvardKey.

E-payments are applied to your student account immediately. Immediately after your e-payment is submitted, you will receive an email confirmation of payment that includes the total amount paid and date of payment.

You can also bring checks or money orders to the Harvard Student Accounts Office located in the Smith Campus Center – 8th Floor to make a payment. The HLS Student Financial Services Office cannot process in-person payments.

Payment Plan

Harvard University generally bills all tuition and fees by semester. Your fall semester charges are posted in July while spring semester charges are posted in December. Student account balances must be paid in full before the beginning of each semester unless you opt to participate in Harvard University’s Payment Plan which allows you to pay charges for tuition and mandatory fees in four installments each semester.

There is a $35 charge per semester for use of this plan, and you will need to re-enroll each semester. The annual cost is $70. Your monthly installments are calculated by deducting any financial aid from the tuition and required fees for that term and dividing by four. If your account shows any balance due from the prior term or any miscellaneous charges, these amounts must be paid in full, together with the monthly installment, by the due date indicated on your monthly statement.

If you choose the monthly plan, you must specifically request this option through the central University Student Accounts Office. Information about the monthly payment plan, including instructions on how to enroll in or opt out, can be found on their website.
