Receptions are a great way for employers to connect with Harvard Law students. Employers have the option of holding receptions on the law school campus or off-site in Harvard Square and the surrounding neighborhoods of Cambridge.
Employers must receive OCS approval for any recruiting events targeted at Harvard Law students. OCS vets all Cambridge-area reception requests to ensure that the event will not conflict with other events that could impact attendance, including exam periods, OCS programs, student events, and other employer events.
In order to enhance student attendance at each event, no more than two employer receptions will be scheduled on the same evening in the Cambridge area. OCS reserves the right to decline a request for a second event if it is likely to significantly impact attendance.

Please reference the HLS Employer Receptions calendar below when selecting a date. The calendar details black-out dates and will include approved receptions on a rolling basis. We recommend scheduling receptions during the spring academic term. Receptions should take place in the evening, starting no earlier than 6 pm.
Please submit event requests in Symplicity under the Events/Receptions tab on the left side navigation. If you do not have a Symplicity account, you are welcome to register for one. These requests are for events happening in Cambridge limited to HLS students. If you are hosting an event at your firm’s office, email the invitation to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will advertise to students for you.
Your event is not approved until you receive confirmation from OCS. Once your event is approved, please review the information below to make the appropriate reservations.
Harvard Law School’s Wasserstein Hall offers state-of-the-art facilities where employers can hold on-campus student receptions in the same building where most first year classes are held. In addition to traditional reception space, Wasserstein Hall also offers our on-campus pub as a possible event venue.
After receiving approval from OCS for your event, you are welcome to inquire about Wasserstein Hall reception space by completing an Event Room Request Form. Should you choose to host your event on-campus, we will provide more information regarding catering and audio visual support.
Harvard Square and the surrounding areas offer a range of quality restaurants and venues from which to choose when hosting an off-campus event. To get you started, please consider the venues detailed on the map below. Clicking an icon will provide restaurant information, including website and phone number.
Whether your event is held on- or off-campus, OCS will assist with publicity so long as the event is open to all students from a given class year. Publicity will consist of the following:
- A listing in Symplicity where students RSVP for events
- A listing on the OCS events and the university calendar (local events only)
- Weekly posts on the OCS blog for students

Employers may not communicate directly or indirectly with first year students before November 15. Invitations to social functions scheduled before November 15 should be directed only to second and third year students.
Individual firm information sessions or networking receptions must comply with Harvard Law School’s non-discrimination policy.
Employers that fail to comply with these policies may not be able to utilize the facilities and services of the Office of Career Services.
