Voice over IP, or VoIP, has replaced the old telephone landlines at Harvard. VoIP phones run over the Harvard network rather than a telephone line. VoIP enabled phones provide the same features offered by the legacy phones.

User Requirements

  • User must know phone number and password to access voicemail messages via phone
  • If a phone needs to be moved, the user must contact the ITS Service Desk
  • ADA dorm requests must be approved by the Dean of Students Office

Service Hours



ITS covers the cost of new phones and line fees for faculty, faculty assistants, and unrestricted departments. Restricted departments will be billed annually for VoIP and analog line fees, net new phone setups, and new jacks. Users are responsible for the cost of phone accessories such as headsets and handset lifters.
