Clinical Email
The clinical email system allows students to differentiate their personal and school email from their clinical course related email.
Clinical IT Services
ITS delivers legal practice technologies that allow staff and students the hands on experience necessary to become highly skilled lawyers.
Computer Equipment Management
ITS keeps a record of all computers and printers deployed by ITS into the HLS environment. Information on these computers includes model, purchase date, warranty expiration date, location, etc. These computers are assigned to a user or a department. Faculty and staff may view their inventory in the HLS Services Hub by clicking on "My Assets" in the menu bar. Department IT contacts can view all department assets by clicking "Department Assets" in the HLS Services Hub.
Computer Labs
HLS has computer lab spaces available for use by HLS students and guests, as well as staff and/or faculty.
Data Recovery
Data Recovery allows data from up to 30 days before the restoration request date to be restored when the data is lost, missing, or inadvertently overwritten.
Desktop Backup Services
ITS offers two back-up services to users:
Video Conferencing – Computer Based
ITS can assist all faculty, staff, and students with video conferencing via their laptop or desktop computers through Zoom.
Electronic Waste Removal/Disposal
ITS collects electronic waste and works with Harvard Recycling to dispose of it in an environmentally safe way. Electronic waste includes computers and peripherals, used toner cartridges, batteries, light bulbs, mobile devices, etc. ITS will pickup computer equipment that HLS faculty and staff no longer use. All other items can be brought to the ITS Service Desk.
Empirical Research Services
Empirical support to HLS faculty, students and staff.
Encryption
Hard-drive encryption is a security protocol used to protect HLS data stored on a hard drive using specialized software, such as Bitlocker or FileVault. Data on an encrypted hard drive cannot be read by anyone who does not have access to the appropriate key or password.
Event Audio and Visual Services
ITS technicians will provide a variety of audio and visual support for events, such as meetings, conferences, and seminars, taking place in select areas of the HLS Campus.
Events and Space Management
The Events and Space Management Service allows the HLS Community to view and book campus spaces for both academic and non-academic purposes. It provides information on the features, capacity and availability of each individual space, as well as a calendar of currently booked events. The service also allows users to request additional event-related services, such as audio/visual services, catering, publicity and special room set-ups.
Faculty/Staff Email
All faculty and staff are provided with an email account upon their start date.
Faculty/Staff Offboarding
When any faculty or staff leave HLS, ITS will contact the faculty member or the staff person's manager to determine off boarding needs.
Faculty/Staff Onboarding
ITS works with all new HLS faculty and staff to ensure they are familiar with HLS technology and how to get IT help.
Faculty Information Management
This service allows faculty to perform the tasks necessary to manage their online profiles and certain administrative and academic activities.
Flipped Classroom Support
TLC can consult about delivery methods and creation of recorded content for “flipped classrooms.” These include screen capture, PowerPoint with audio track, “talking head,” and more.
General Computer Training
User computer related training is available at the following locations:
Guest Authentication (XID)
TLC will create guest accounts for non-Harvard affiliates at the request of a faculty or faculty assistant.
Hardware Recommendations and Consulting
ITS provides computer hardware and peripheral device recommendations to HLS faculty and applicable departments. ITS staff schedule individual consultations, prior to a HLS computer upgrade, to recommend computer hardware appropriate to an individual's workflow and software needs.
