Professor Kathryn Spier is seeking one or more research assistants for a project on structured settlements. Structured settlements separate the agreement to resolve a claim from the payment of settlement funds, raising questions involving financial markets, contracts, taxation, and consumer protection.
An interest or background in law and economics would be helpful but is not required. The initial assignment will involve approximately 5–8 hours of work during September and October, with the possibility of additional work thereafter.
To apply, please send a résumé, an unofficial transcript if available, and a very brief statement of interest to snorton@law.harvard.edu.
