Six Harvard Law School alumni were recognized by “The American Lawyer” as among the top 25 “Dealmakers of the Year” for 2008.  Honorees included three members of the HLS class of 1978, as well as three other alums.

H. Rodgin Cohen ’68 of Sullivan & Cromwell was recognized for his work on the bank bailouts; he also appeared on the cover of magazine’s April issue.  John Finley ’81 of Simpson Thacher & Barlett was recognized for his work on Mars’s acquisition of Wrigley, and Robert Joffe ’67 of Cravath, Swaine & Moore was noted for his representation of independent directors.

The three members of the class of ’78 who were recognized were George Bason Jr. of Davis Polk & Wardwell (for his work on the Citigroup bailout), Michael Wiseman, of Sullivan & Cromwell (for his work on the AIG bailout), and Jeffrey Rosen of Debevoise & Plimpton (for his work on the acquisition of Alltel by Verizon Wireless).

“The American Lawyer” has published a yearly list of top dealmakers since 1999.  The list is designed to recognize outstanding transactional attorneys for their work across a wide range of industries.
