Mark Wu, the Henry L. Stimson Professor at Harvard Law School and a leading scholar of trade and economic law, was appointed the new vice dean for the Graduate Program and International Legal Studies at Harvard Law School in June. He succeeds William Alford ’77, the Jerome A. and Joan L. Cohen Professor of Law, who served in the role for the past 18 years.
Harvard Law Today recently asked Wu about what excites him in the new role, his plans for the future of the Graduate Program and ILS, the challenges and opportunities he sees ahead, and what he does for fun.
During William Alford’s tenure as vice dean of the Grad Program and ILS, the law school transformed its international programs, adding impressively to its faculty, expanding its curriculum, launching its first international exchange programs, and making it possible for unprecedented numbers of the world’s strongest law students to attend Harvard.
