On Monday, October 20, Justice Richard Goldstone of the Constitutional Court of South Africa will speak on the role of international law in preventing deadly conflicts. The event, which is sponsored by the Harvard Law School Graduate Program, will begin at 4 p.m. in the Pound 100 classroom. It is free and open to the public.
Prior to serving on the highest court of South Africa, Goldstone was the first chief prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. He also chaired the Independent International Commission on Kosovo, a commission on which HLS Professor Martha Minow served. Recently Goldstone co-chaired the International Bar Association’s Task Force on International Terrorism.
Goldstone serves as Chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand and a member of the board of its law school, where he received his law degree in 1962.
