On Friday, April 19, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O ‘Connor will speak about her childhood in the American Southwest. O ‘Connor and her brother, H. Alan Day, recently co-authored a book entitled: Lazy B: Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest. Day will join O ‘Connor at the event.
The program, which will begin at 5 p.m. in Langdell South, is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the talk. For those unable to attend, the event will be webcast live.
O ‘Connor, the first female U.S. Supreme Court justice, was appointed to the Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1981. A former Arizona State Senator, O ‘Connor was born in El Paso, Texas in 1930.
O’Connor’s talk is sponsored by the Saturday School Program at Harvard Law School. Established in 1988 by Professor Charles Ogletree, the Saturday School provides a forum for students to engage in constructive dialogue with professors, legal practitioners, elected officials, judges, and others.
