On Tuesday, April 23, the American Constitution Society and the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review will present a panel discussion on the future of the Voting Rights Act. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Langdell South classroom and is free and open to the public.
“Since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Shaw v. Reno, and accelerated by its ruling in Bush v. Gore, the focus has moved from the rights of minorities, to the appearance of districts, and now to the appearance of the ballots themselves,” said ACS board member Michael Gottlieb.
The panel will feature some of the nation’s leading experts on voting rights and the franchise, including the Honorable Myron H. Thompson, Harvard Law School Professor Chris Edley, Columbia Professor Samuel Issacharoff, and NYU Professor Richard Pildes.
The American Constitution Society is a new national new national organization of progressive law students, law professors, practicing lawyers and judges, dedicated to increasing the debate about law.
