Harvard Law School has been rated number one in the first-ever ranking of best law schools based on a survey of hiring partners and recruiters at the country’s top law firms, U.S. News and World Report announced March 7.
The survey was sent last fall to 750 hiring partners and recruiters at the law firms that are included in the 2010 Best Law Firms rankings, which was produced jointly by U.S. News and the publication Best Lawyers.
U.S. News asked hiring partners to rank the schools based on a 5-point scale. Unlike the main U.S. News law school rankings, which take into account many factors, the rankings by recruiting professionals are strictly based on reputation and the recruiters’ assessments of each school’s academic quality, the publication said.
