Adam Sherman has joined Harvard Law School as the assistant dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, overseeing the HLS Office of Academic Affairs.
Sherman brings to HLS broad experience in academic policy, curriculum development, faculty appointments processes, and institutional research, planning and accreditation. He joined HLS in August, and previously worked at the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, where he served most recently as assistant dean of Institutional Studies and Academic Services. Prior to that, he served as director of policy analysis and assessment in the Evans School and as special assistant to the Dean of the University of Washington Graduate School.
Dean John F. Manning ’85 said, “Adam has already shown himself to be a strong and thoughtful administrator and a valuable member of our team.”
Catherine Claypoole, associate dean and dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, said, “I am delighted that Adam has joined Harvard Law School to lead our Office of Academic Affairs. Adam’s experience in higher education and his expertise in faculty and academic affairs will serve the Law School and OAA well in its work at the center of faculty administrative affairs and the development of the School’s teaching program and academic policy. Adam’s warmth and genial energy make him a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to collaborating with him as he takes on this leadership role.”
Sherman holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington Evans School of Public Affairs, and a B.A. in International Business from Western Washington University. Prior to pursuing graduate education, Sherman served as a small enterprise development agent in Mali, West Africa with the United States Peace Corps.
