The Student Application (found on the SFS Self-Service Portal) contains two important statements about the use of any aid money you may receive from either the federal government or within Harvard Law School itself. You must accept these statements as a condition of applying for any type of financial aid; signing them confirms that you will abide by these terms.
Federal Statement of Educational Purpose
The statement, as it appears in your Student Application: “I certify that I am the individual signing this Statement of Educational Purpose and that the federal student financial assistance I may receive will only be used for educational purposes and to pay the cost of attending Harvard Law School for 2024-2025.”
The signature box, as it appears in your Student Application: “I understand that federal aid may only be used for educational purposes.”
HLS Statement of Educational Purpose
The statement, as it appears in your Student Application: “I certify that any institutional financial assistance I may receive from Harvard Law School will only be used for educational purposes and to pay the cost of attending Harvard Law School for 2024-2025.”
The signature box, as it appears in your Student Application: “I understand that HLS aid may only be used for educational purposes.”
