Public Counsel Opportunity Under Law Project
Los Angeles, CA
I was born and raised in Downey, California. In my undergraduate career at the University of California, Riverside, I studied business-economics and gender studies. Realizing the importance of education to social change, I was a key part of the student movement to adopt gender-studies as a graduation requirement for all students. Thereafter, reflecting upon my own unmet mental health needs as a child and seeking to pursue my desire to serve students a reality, I attended law school with my sights set upon education law. After transferring to Harvard Law School, I was provided with the valuable opportunity to intern for Public Counsel’s Opportunity Under Law project, where I worked with their talented attorneys in their endeavor to ensure educational equity. Having become enamored with their goal of implementing trauma-sensitive school districts, I worked with them to design my fellowship project around that goal, which is the basis of my Public Service Venture Fund Fellowship.
