Carina Bentata Gryting will spend her fellowship year with the Center for Justice and Accountability (CJA) in San Francisco, California working with victims of torture and other human rights violations seeking civil remedies under the Alien Tort Statute and Torture Victim Protection Act. While at Harvard, Carina was a clinical student at the Immigration and Refugee Clinic and the International Human Rights Clinic. She was on the Executive Board of the Law and International Development Society and was an online article editor for the Harvard International Law Journal. During her final year of law school, she spent a semester studying at the University of Geneva, where she received the Certificate in Transnational Law. Outside of Harvard, Carina has worked on Inter-American human rights litigation through internships with the Center for Justice and International Law in DC and Women’s Link Worldwide in Bogotá, as well as domestic civil rights litigation through an internship with the ACLU Women’s Rights Project in New York. She received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in International Development Studies and Legal Studies.
