Monick Perone will spend her fellowship year at Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA), with the aid and assistance of her service dog, Wallie. There, Monick will advocate for criminal justice reform measures and amplify the voices of those currently imprisoned in Massachusetts. Monick’s work experiences throughout law school have focused primarily on the abuses faced by civilians and incarcerated people at the hands of the police and prison systems. During her 1L summer, Monick worked for Howard Friedman, Esq. representing victims of police misconduct and brutality. Monick then went on to join Harvard’s Prison Legal Assistance Project (PLAP) during her 2L year, representing inmates in disciplinary cases. Monick then worked full-time at PLAP during her 2L summer. Monick represented an inmate serving a second-degree life sentence in his parole hearing and secured a positive parole vote for her client. Monick received her undergraduate degree from Moravian College, where she studied philosophy.
