Jobs to Move America is a strategic policy center that works to transform public spending and corporate behavior using a comprehensive approach that is rooted in racial and economic justice and community organizing. It combines strategic research, policy advocacy, and coalition organizing to harness the power of our public dollars to create good jobs and healthy communities across the country.
Law student volunteers are sought for the following pro bono projects.
1) Open records work that involves appealing open records denials in New York and Alabama as well as understanding FOIA Law in California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Alabama, and Mississippi to support transparency and plan and produce a policy report on open records laws and best practices and in advance of filing to compel a state agency to take action.
2) Assist a group in Kentucky that is trying to support more sustainable public procurement networks by researching their state procurement laws to understand what types of public interest procurement specifications are prohibited by state law. Then go on to do a fifty-state survey of state procurement laws and public interest prohibitions.
