Episode 20: Andre Almeida

Andre Almeida, Operations Manager for Custodial Services

In this last episode of the academic year, Edgar had the chance to sit down and talk to Andre Almeida, a Brazilian native who has been working at Harvard for 10 years, and is now at HLS as an Operations Manager for Custodial Services.

Andre was born in Araxa, Minas Gerais State in Brazil. Edgar spoke with Andre about his childhood and first years at school. They share stories of Brazilian behaviors, such as the ritual of offering coffee and a meal when you first host someone at home. He makes comparison about security between his hometown to big centers like Rio and Sao Paulo. And the art, craft and music, famous in Minas Gerais.

Andre stayed in Brazil until he was 18 years old and then moved to US with his parents who later moved back to Araxa. He talked about his first impression upon arriving in US and compares habits from here to the ones in Brazil. After finally getting a job at Harvard, he started taking classes at the Harvard Extension School. He also talks about the amazing people he works with and the great environment they share. Andre is very happy with the work he does.

Some fun facts about Andre:
