What is Disaster Lawyering?

As climate change exacerbates environmental disasters across the country, lawyers play an increasingly important role to help survivors recover from these devastating events. Join our many student organization co-sponsors to hear from legal aid attorneys working in Texas, Oklahoma, and North Carolina discuss their work, including direct client services, strategic litigation, and legislative advocacy, and learn how young lawyers can start a career or get involved pro bono in this critical work. RSVP to help us plan for lunch.

Panelists:

Lesley Albritton, Chief Operations Officer Legal Aid North Carolina

Brian Candelaria, Staff Attorney Oklahoma Indian Legal Services

Ana Laurel, Staff Attorney Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid

Moderated by Hannah Perls, Senior Staff Attorney in HLS Environmental Law and Energy Program (EELP)

This event is part of HLS’s Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Program’s annual celebration of pro bono.  Co-sponsored by the Environmental Law and Energy Program, Office of Public Interest Advising and the HLS Texas Club.

RSVP to help us plan for lunch. Lunch from Redbones provided at 12 noon, panel to begin at 12:20.

If you or an event participant requires disability-related accommodations, please contact HLS Accessibility Services at accessibility@law.harvard.edu two weeks in advance of the event.
