Panel Discussion with the Systemic Justice Project, the Public Health Advocacy Institute, and the UNH Sports & Entertainment Law Institute

Join Professors Jon Hanson (Alan A. Stone Professor of Law; Director, Systemic Justice Project), Michael McCann (Visiting Professor of Law; Legal Analyst, Sportico), Richard Daynard (Founder, Public Health Advocacy Institute), Mark Gottlieb (Executive Director, PHAI), and Dr. Harry Levant (Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor; Director of Gambling Policy, PHAI) for a Harvard Law School panel discussion on Sports Betting as a Public Health Challenge.

This conversation will explore how the rise of legalized sports betting has created a new public health frontier that intersects with the law. Panelists will examine the parallels between sports betting and other industries—such as tobacco and fast food—that have posed systemic risks to public well-being. They will also discuss emerging efforts to address these harms through federal reforms like the SAFE Bet Act and ongoing litigation against major companies, including DraftKings.

Lunch provided.

Co-Sponsored by the Systemic Justice Project, the Harvard Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law, and Torts Illustrated.
