The Systemic Justice Project and Torts R Us are proud to host Jim Chalat, a renowned practicing trial lawyer specializing in plaintiffs’ personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, and wrongful death cases in Colorado. Jim’s dedication to improving the lives of his clients and his focus on achieving the best outcome for the clients he represents is reflected in his recognition as one of the best personal injury lawyers in the U.S.
In his presentation, titled “Narciso’s Case,” Jim will share the heart-breaking story of what is known as “dart out” case which occurred in Commerce City, Colorado, in August 2013, in which an 8-year-0ld child, Narciso, was scared by a pair of aggressive pit bulls and ran out into the street to be hit and badly injured by a passing van. The story reveals a lot of the challenges and rewards of this type of practice and explores some of the strategic and legal decisions that a plaintiff’s lawyer often must make.
Jim, who as spoken at Harvard Law School twice before, is a brilliant lawyer and a wonderful storyteller and teacher.
