Jesse Gabriel Lunch

November 10, 2026

12:15 pm - 1:15 pm

Griswold Hall; 110 Classroom

The Food Law and Policy Clinic is hosting a special lunch-time discussion with California Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel!

Assemblymember Gabriel is a Harvard Law School graduate (Class of ’08) and a third-term member of the California State Assembly. In his time on the Assembly, Asm. Gabriel has authored over thirty laws on issues such as gun safety, environmental protection, housing, and combating hate crimes. He has also introduced and successfully passed a series of state bills on additives and ultra-processed foods, including: the California Food Safety Act (banning 5 additives); the California School Food Safety Act (prohibiting schools from serving meals with 6 synthetic dyes); the Real Food, Healthy Kids Act (included the first legal definition of ultra-processed foods and is one of the bills you can read for our next session); and most recently a bill to create a voluntary non-UPF label. A recent Mother Jones article called him “America’s de facto food safety chief.”

We hope you will join this discussion about Asm. Gabriel’s legal career path and his achievements in public service!
