The HLS Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Programs is hosting an Election Protection training for volunteers.  Election Protection is the Nation’s oldest and largest non-partisan voter protection program working to make sure eligible voters are able to cast a meaningful ballot on Election Day.

Each term, Lawyers for Civil Rights and other nonprofit groups recruit pro bono attorneys, students, and concerned community members to help voters cast a meaningful ballot in real time and to identify election law violations. These volunteers ensure that the election runs smoothly and fairly. Given the current climate and new election laws that were passed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Election Protection volunteers will be even more critical this November.  All volunteers will be required to attend or view a one-hour training to participate.  The training at HLS will focus on Massachusetts voter laws for those who will be volunteering in Massachusetts. (A separate training TBA will be available for those traveling to New Hampshire to volunteer.)

HLS faculty, staff, and student volunteers should fill out the google form https://bit.ly/electionprotection2024 by September 15, 2024. Be sure to indicate your affiliation as either a Harvard Law student or staff member as we will be coordinating groups of Harvard Law volunteers to travel together.

Volunteer hours (but not training time) eligible for HLS JD student pro bono credit.

Dinner provided.

Co-sponsored with Lawyers for Civil Rights and the Equal Democracy Project as part of our HLS 2024 Pro Bono Week Celebration.  Please contact Lee Mestre lmestre@law.harvard.edu with any questions.
