Charting the In-House Path: Perspectives from AGCs

Thinking about a career in-house? Hear directly from AGCs at Reddit, Coinbase, and Ramp about their paths into the role, what it’s like advising innovative companies, and lessons learned along the way. See below for more information on our speakers.

Lisa Richards is Associate General Counsel at Reddit, where she oversees public company reporting and compliance with SEC regulations. Lisa played a key role in guiding the company through its IPO and setting up its public company reporting processes. Before joining Reddit, Lisa was part of the corporate legal team at Coinbase, contributing to its IPO and handling corporate governance, M&A, and venture capital matters. Prior to that, Lisa was an associate at Fenwick & West.

Jen Barrows is Associate General Counsel, Corporate at Coinbase, where she supports the company’s M&A, venture capital and corporate governance program both in the United States and internationally. Prior to joining Coinbase, Jen was a corporate associate at Cooley in Santa Monica and an M&A and financial regulatory associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in NYC. As a junior associate, Jen also completed a 6-month secondment with Morgan Stanley’s bank regulatory and regulatory affairs teams.

Amy Aixi Zhang is Lead Product Counsel at Ramp, a high-growth financial technology company transforming corporate spend management. At Ramp, Amy advises on complex regulatory, product, and marketing issues across payments, banking, data privacy, and emerging technologies. She is currently leading projects related to Ramp’s work on stablecoin integrations, treasury features, and other financial products. Before joining Ramp, Amy was Policy Counsel at Paradigm, where she worked at the intersection of crypto, law, and policy during a critical period of regulatory development. She began her career at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she represented financial institutions on regulatory matters. Amy writes on topics such as product counseling, privacy law, and the career path from Big Law to in-house. She earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. from New York University.

Christina Cheung is Deputy Chief of Staff to the CEO and Counsel to the President at Circle, having previously served as Associate General Counsel at Polygon Labs and Associate General Counsel at dydX. Earlier, she was an Associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and a TV presenter. Christina holds a JD/MBA from Penn Law and Wharton, and graduated valedictorian from the Dual BA Program between Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris with a B.A. in Economics-Statistics and a B.Soc.Sci. in Transatlantic Relations. She has lived in 5 countries across 3 continents, and studied at 13 different schools.
