Cari Dawson J.D.’93
Cari Dawson is a creative problem solver, legal strategist, and committed advocate. She co-chairs Alston & Bird’s Class Action & MDL Practice Team and has a winning track record defending Fortune 500 companies as lead counsel in high-profile enterprise litigation nationwide. Cari assists clients in the areas of commercial litigation, strategic counseling, and crisis management. For almost 30 years, Cari has defended hundreds of class actions in virtually every state in the country and across a variety of industries involving claims of fraud, breach of warranty, RICO, breach of contract, consumer protection, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and all varieties of state and federal statutory claims.
Cari is a frequent lecturer on the topics of crisis management, class actions, and multidistrict litigation for conferences, CLEs, and law schools, lecturing at both Northwestern Law School and Boston College School of Law. She is currently serving on the Advisory Board for the Emory Institute of Complex Litigation and Mass Claims. She recently co-wrote a chapter published in the ABA’s A Practitioner’s Guide to Class Action Litigation, 3rd Edition. Cari served as the co-chair of Alston’s firmwide Diversity Steering Committee and served on the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law Section of the National Bar Association for 14 years. She has also served on the Boards of Directors of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Woodruff Arts Center, Create Your Dreams, Inc., and Trinity School. Cari received her A.B. from Princeton University in 1990 and her J.D. from Harvard University in 1993.
