Student Government

HLS Student Government supports Student Organizations and focuses on fostering community, and enhancing inclusion, health, and wellness across the student body. In addition, Student Government advocates on behalf of all students at HLS on issues ranging from student life to academics.

Class Marshals

Class Marshals represent their class at the Harvard Law School Class Day and the Harvard University Commencement. They are also responsible for organizing social and graduation-related events throughout the year, including Class Day and Barristers’ Ball. Harvard Law School Class Marshals are selected by a vote of their class.

Section Social Committee

Each of our eight HLS Sections has a Section Social Committee (SSC) for the 1L year. The committees include two or three Section Liaisons and a Section Treasurer who collaborate directly with the DOS SSC Administrator to plan and host inclusive, fun, and community-building section-wide events, programming, and section swag. The SSC members are self-appointed during 1L Orientation, and after attending the SSC training hosted by DOS, they appoint their Liaisons and Treasurer.
