Yasmin earned the degrees of BA (Spanish) and MSc (Government) from the University of the West Indies (Mona), the LLB (Hons.) from the University of London, and MLIS from the University of Toronto. She previously worked as Head of Collection Services at the David A. Clarke School of Law, University of the District of Columbia, and Resident Librarian at Georgetown University Law Library.

She was the chair of the Latin American Law Interest Group, Foreign, Comparative and International Law Section, American Association of Law Libraries from 2017 to 2019. Her research interests include institutional repositories, and foreign, international, and comparative law.
