The World Bank’s Legal Vice Presidency (LEGVPU) is accepting applications  for the 2021 fall cycle of the Legal Internship Program (LIP) at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in certain selected country offices.  The application deadline is April 30, 2021.  The incoming cohort will commence its tenure in September 2021 and is expected to conclude it in November 2021.

Despite promising developments around vaccine distribution and availability, we plan to continue with the virtual format of LIP at least during the 2021 fall cycle.  We look forward to fully availing of this arrangement to carry on with the objective of the Program of providing selected interns first-hand experiences on the day-to-day operations of the World Bank by closely collaborating with staff in LEGVPU.

LEGVPU provides a variety of legal services in different departmental units, including operational project finance in different regions, environmental law, corporate finance, administrative law, and more.  Similarly to earlier cohorts, members of the 2021 fall cycle of LIP will be designated to a LEGVPU unit to perform legal tasks with our lawyers.  Kindly note, we only accept applications from students who are enrolled in an LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or equivalent legal academic program on November 30, 2021 and before (currently enrolled law students).  For further details on the selection criteria, requirements, terms of reference, and to submit an application, please visit the Legal Internship Program website or contact us at legalinternship@worldbank.org.  Kindly note, we have recently migrated the Legal Internship Program webpage to be found under the World Bank’s Career site and the prior LIP platform is no longer functional.
