The HLS Title IX Program Officer serves in a neutral role and supports all members of the HLS community. The Title IX Program Officer has specialized training and experience in responding to disclosures of sexual and gender-based harassment in the Harvard community.
The HLS Title IX Program Officer can:
- Provide information about available resources
- Help arrange supportive measures, including:
- Course-related extensions and adjustments
- University-issued and enforced no contact orders
- Work and/or course schedule adjustments
- Changes in housing or seating
- leaves of absence
- increased monitoring of specific areas on campus
- Facilitate informal resolution, as appropriate, between the involved parties if both parties agree, with the goal of reaching a mutually agreeable resolution
- Provide information on applicable policies and procedures
- Provide information about the formal complaint process
Formal complaints against HLS students, staff, and faculty can be submitted to the HLS Title IX Program Officer. Formal complaints against staff members will be provided to the Office of Dispute Resolution. Speaking with the HLS Title IX Program Officer or University Title IX Coordinator is, however, not the same as filing a formal complaint. The HLS Title IX Program Officer or University Title IX Coordinator can serve as a resource to help you make an informed decision about which pathways are right for you.
While conversations with the HLS Title IX Program Officer or University Title IX Coordinator are not confidential, these individuals will handle any information that you provide with the utmost discretion and sensitivity and will share it with others only on a need-to-know basis.
Assistant Director – Diversity, Inclusion and Title IX Programming
Warner Santiago is the Assistant Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Title IX Programming at Harvard Law School. Warner works closely with leaders across HLS constituencies, staff, students, and alumni, to extend their efforts to ensure the rights, dignity, and differences of all are both respected and supported. Warner serves as the point person at HLS in researching, assessing, developing and advising on the implementation of leading diversity, belonging, equal opportunity initiatives for staff, and Title IX programming for the HLS community.
Before his time at HLS, Warner worked in the Seattle Public Schools, where he served as the District Title IX Coordinator. Prior to his service at the Seattle Public Schools, he was a legal advisor for the Women, Business and the Law project at the World Bank Group in Washington, DC. He received a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, a J.D. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from American University Washington College of Law, and his M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University.
