It is early, but EIP Preview bidding is only 3 months away. Now is a great time to focus on Leg 2 of the EIP Roadmap: getting your materials ready. You may now submit your resume to OCS for EIP Resume Review. As you settle into your 1L year, it’s time to reconnect with the people you will want to list as references during your upcoming summer job search. Take a few minutes over the next few weeks to draft a short email to them, describing your law school experience so far and checking in with them.

Your legal resume should be no longer than one page. You will need to capture the reader’s attention quickly, since the reader will likely be reviewing a large number of resumes. Focus on the information that demonstrates your qualifications for the position, and shows how you would be an asset to the employer.

Starting next week, the OCS Peer Advisers will host a series of 1L Resume and Cover Letter Workshops. In a small group setting, 1Ls will work with OCS Peer Advisers on how to draft a professional, impressive resume and a persuasive cover letter for the private sector.
