This funding is administered by the Harvard University Committee on General Scholarships (CGS) (http://www.scholarship.harvard.edu/). These scholarships are awarded with income from Harvard endowment funds created as a result of gifts to the University to select students who meet specific eligibility criteria established by the original donors. They are separate and distinct from the need-based grants awarded by Harvard Law School via the HLS internal financial aid application process.
Please note that all of the funds available through the Harvard University Committee on General Scholarships available to HLS students in 2023-24 are included on that website. The Committee does administer a broader range of funds however some are targeted to students admitted/enrolled in other Harvard graduate schools or at Harvard College. HLS is bound by this predetermination and we can only nominate students for the funds included in the application.
If you meet any of these scholarship criteria, please reach out to SFS to notify the office. The deadline is March 1, 2023. We will reach out by email individually to scholarship applicants with the link to upload supporting documentation. Nominees who are selected to receive this funding will not be notified until after May 1, 2023.
