Tara completed her LL.M. at Harvard Law School in 2019 following her primary law degree at University College Dublin in Ireland, awarded in 2018. Prior to her time at HLS, Tara participated in the Capital Punishment Clinic at the University of Texas School of Law during a ‘study-abroad’ year. In Ireland, she volunteered for and completed legal research for advocacy organisations Justice for Magdalenes Research and the Clann Project, assisting in their efforts to obtain redress for women and children affected by historic institutional abuse during the twentieth century. She was awarded the Thomas Addis Emmet Public Interest Fellowship and spent Summer 2018 at public interest organisation Washington Appleseed in Seattle, WA. While at HLS, Tara participated in the Family Law/Domestic Violence Clinic and HLS Advocates for Human Rights, and worked as research assistant on Emily Keehn’s (Human Rights Program) project on decriminalisation and human rights law. As a Kaufman Fellow at APPEAL (formerly the Centre for Criminal Appeals) in London, Tara will work with the Women’s Justice Initiative on strategic litigation and policy advocacy focused on appealing the convictions and sentences of women in prison.
