Luna was selected as a Kaufman Fellow to work with International Planned Parenthood Federation, Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR). There she will work with their Rights and Justice Unit, mostly on advocacy, litigation, and in support to youth leadership to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in the Americas and Caribbean. Prior to coming to HLS, she had worked as a public servant at the Ministry of Human Rights of Brazil, managing government actions in compliance with International Systems for the Protection of Human Rights’ decisions. Luna Borges completed her LL.M at HLS after obtaining a master’s degree in Law from University of Brasília. She holds a first degree in law and is a practicing lawyer in Brazil. At HLS she has worked as a student attorney at the International Human Rights Clinic, as a Research Assistant for the Human Rights Program and was part of the Brazilian Studies Association and the International Committee of Women’s Law Association. Passionate about gender, constitutional law, and human rights theory, she has been focusing academically on the impact of the Zika virus on women’s health and the rights-based intersectional response to the epidemic in Brazil.
