Katrina Braun (Katie) will be working at the ACLU of North Carolina representing unaccompanied minor asylum-seekers, particularly in appeals challenging the lack of procedural rights afforded to this highly vulnerable population. Katrina earned her J.D. concurrently with a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts, for which she wrote a master’s thesis focused on the impact of constitutionalizing socioeconomic rights. She spent summers at the U.S. State Department Office of the Legal Adviser, working with Eritrean and Sudanese asylum-seekers and on socioeconomic rights issues with the College of Law and Business in Israel, and at the education rights nonprofit Equal Education Law Centre in South Africa. In law school, Katrina was a Notes Editor on the Harvard Law Review, where she wrote a student note about asylum law, and participated in the International Human Rights Clinic. She also sang a cappella with Scales of Justice. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal at Klasko, Rulon, Stock & Seltzer, LLP (now Klasko Immigration Law Partners, LLP), an immigration law firm, and earned her B.A. from Georgetown University.
