General FAQs

  • What is the Future Leaders in Law Program?

    Harvard Law School’s Future Leaders in Law Program, in partnership with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (Paul, Weiss), is designed to elevate, inspire, empower, and impact the lives of each program participant and the legal profession by focusing on early talent generation and igniting excitement about law as a career path.

  • How long is the Future Leaders in Law Program?

    One year. We will kick-off our program this June with a Summer Residency at Harvard Law School (Cambridge, MA) and a visit to Paul,Weiss (New York, NY).

  • Is there a fee to apply?

    No. Applying and participation in the Future Leaders in Law Program is free.

  • Is there a cost to participate?

    No. This program is fully funded, with all costs covered to participate, including transportation, lodging, and preparation materials. We will provide need-based assistance for law school application fees, LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service (CAS) reports, and the LSAT administration. In addition, a $3,000 stipend will be awarded upon successful program completion.

  • Is there an interview component?

    All program finalists will be invited to interview via Zoom no earlier than mid-to-late April 2025. Applicants will be notified of their decision in May 2025.

  • When will participants be notified of their decision?

    Participants will be notified of their decision in May 2025.

  • If I am selected as a Future Leaders in Law Fellow, may I defer?

    No. If you are accepted into the Future Leaders in Law Program, you are committing to the yearlong program kicking off with the Summer Residency in June 2025.

  • Does acceptance into the Future Leaders in Law Program give me preference into Harvard Law School?

    No. Acceptance into the Future Leaders in Law Program is independent of the Harvard Law School J.D Admissions process. Participation in the Future Leaders in Law Program does not guarantee admission into Harvard Law School.

Eligibility FAQs

  • Can I apply as an international student?

    Yes.  You are eligible to apply as an international student.

  • Can I apply if I plan on applying to Law School this fall?

    The Future Leaders in Law Program is a yearlong commitment and designed for participants who intend to apply for a J.D. program matriculating no earlier than Fall 2027.

     

  • I can’t attend the Summer Residency, can I still participate?

    To get the most out of our Future Leaders in Law Program, our Fellows commit to attending all core program components throughout the year, starting with the Summer Residency at Harvard Law School (Cambridge, MA) and a visit to Paul,Weiss (New York, NY).

  • I don’t meet one or more of the eligibility requirements, should I apply?

    Due to the competitive nature of our applicant pool, please refer to the eligibility requirements.

Core Components FAQs

  • Do I need to attend all program components?

    Yes. As a Future Leaders in Law Program Fellow, you must attend and participate in all core program components.

  • Which components are in-person?

    The Summer Residency takes place in-person in Cambridge, MA and New York, NY. The yearlong program continues in a synchronous format upon conclusion of the summer residency.

  • What is Advantage Testing?

    Advantage Testing is a highly regarded private tutoring service. For more than 35 years, Advantage Testing has offered outstanding preparation for standardized tests and academic tutoring from grade school through graduate school.

  • Is the LSAT preparation course in-person?

    No. This preparation course will be synchronous in a remote format.

  • What is Zero-L®

    Zero-L is an online course designed to ensure all incoming students, whatever their backgrounds and previous areas of study, start with foundational legal knowledge that enables them to thrive in law school.

  • What are Empowerment Sessions?

    Saturday Sessions in which Fellows will continue to engage and benefit from workshops, skills building, application preparation, and mentorship opportunities. These empowerment sessions are designed to continue preparing participants for the law school application process.
