Harvard Law School is committed to fostering a deeply connected community that values fairness, respect for the rule of law, and free inquiry in an environment of trust and mutual respect. The Harvard Law School Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) is charged with reducing barriers to participation in our learning and working environment, addressing misconduct, and educating and informing the community about relevant resources. Key priorities include deepening awareness and understanding of our policies and procedures, continuing to build the infrastructure that supports our policies, and further enriching a law school culture where all community members feel welcome, valued, and respected.
Our office works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to uphold the principles of equal opportunity and free expression in legal education and our working environment. We are committed to cultivating a law school that builds community, fosters inclusivity and belonging, and prepares future lawyers to pursue the highest ideals of justice in society.
OEO oversees the following areas at HLS:
- Sexual Harassment and Other Sexual Misconduct
- Non-Discrimination and Anti-Bullying
- Student Accessibility Services
- Community Education and Engagement
OEO supports HLS community members with concerns under the University’s sexual misconduct and non-discrimination policies, providing information, advising, and help navigating resources, policies, and processes.
Issues involving academic integrity or other misconduct fall within the jurisdiction of the HLS Administrative Board. Questions about the Ad Board or its jurisdiction may be directed to Sasha Tulgan, who serves as Secretary for the Administrative Board.
