The Bail Project
Megan Vees will be working at The Bail Project, which combats mass incarceration by posting bail for defendants who would otherwise remain detained due to poverty. Since graduating from HLS in 2018, Megan clerked for the Hon. Jesus Bernal of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. While at HLS, she participated in the Criminal Justice Policy Program’s bail reform project and the International Human Rights Clinic. She has interned with the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project and the International Organization for Migration. Megan developed her passion for advocating for detained persons through her work at the Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, where she managed the detained children’s program. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru and worked for a refugee rights organization in Cameroon. Megan holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University.
