As a Sumner M. Redstone Fellow, Laura Gault will work to advance the Refugee Protection efforts of Human Rights First. She will provide legal analysis of current statutes and proposed legislation affecting refugees in the United States, support the development of amicus briefs and other strategic litigation efforts, and represent Human Rights First in external engagements in Washington, DC. Following her fellowship, Laura will spend two years clerking for the Honorable Gary S. Katzmann of the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Laura graduated with dual JD/MPA from Harvard Law School and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where she concentrated in International Affairs. During her dual degree program, Laura served as a student-attorney in the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic and interned for the Public International Law and Policy Group (PILPG) and the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She also worked as a Summer Associate for Shearman and Sterling’s International Arbitration Practice Group in Washington, DC and Paris. Prior to graduate school, Laura spent two years working for a contractor for the U.S. Agency for International Development. She graduated summa cum laude from Hamilton College, with majors in World Politics and French.
